A popular category that is widely discussed online is removing coffee stains with household remedies.<\/p>\n\n<p>At James, we know better than anyone that such measures are often not the best solution and can even be counterproductive. Furthermore, in 90% of cases, fresh coffee stains can simply be removed with water and a terry cloth towel. We therefore advise against using the following products to remove coffee stains:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Salt<\/strong>: Salt is not a particularly effective means of removing coffee stains on its own, as it does not have the properties necessary to dissolve the components of the stain. Salt can fix the colour of the coffee stain, causing the stain to become embedded in the fibre.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cleaning vinegar<\/strong>: Cleaning vinegar has a low pH value and can damage various types of fabric if not used correctly. Although this may not be immediately apparent, vinegar can damage the material in the long term. In fact, with vinegar, you run the risk of the colour of the stain becoming fixed in the fabric, or in other words, becoming permanent. We therefore advise you not to use it on materials that are sensitive to acids, such as marble, limestone and various types of textiles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Alcohol: <\/strong> Alcohol is not a suitable agent for removing coffee stains, as it is not specifically designed to effectively tackle the components of a coffee stain. Furthermore, alcohol can damage some materials, especially if they are sensitive to solvents. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Baby wipes:<\/strong> baby wipes are designed for cleaning and caring for babies&#8217; sensitive skin. They do not have sufficient cleaning power to remove coffee stains. Baby wipes also often contain mild detergents, which can leave residues on the fabric, potentially making the stain even worse.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Baking soda:<\/strong> we also strongly advise against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.james.eu\/nl\/vlekken\/koffievlek-verwijderen-met-baking-soda\/\">removing coffee stains with baking soda.<\/a> Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, is a versatile household product that is often used for various cleaning purposes. However, baking soda has a pH value of more than 7, which can affect the lanolin (fat found in sheep&#8217;s wool) in wool, for example. In the long term, this can even cause the wool fibres to become brittle and break.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Although there are countless methods circulating online for removing coffee stains using everyday products, we strongly advise against them.
